What do I wear?
Entry to general admission areas of the racecourse requires guests to be neatly dressed. Footwear and a shirt must be worn at all times.
Fancy dress is allowed on course in our public areas. As part of the House Policy for Morphettville Racecourse, those in Fancy Dress / Costume will only be admitted to the venue if the costume passes the following criteria:
- The Fancy Dress / Costume must be in good taste. Meaning in no way can it be found offensive, lewd, or derogatory to any gender, ethnicity or religious group.
- The Fancy Dress / Costume must not have any offensive or derogatory slogans or printing.
- The Fancy Dress / Costume must cover all private areas for both Males & Females, and must not be susceptible to intentional or unintentional wardrobe malfunctions.
- The Fancy Dress / Costume must not cover or alter the person’s facial appearance.
- Fancy Dress / Costumes will not be permitted to ANY Members or Function areas.
In all instances where personal interpretation may be questioned by any party, Morphettville Racecourse Management will have final ruling.
What time do gates open?
The SAJC wish to advise Members and Patrons that from 1 December 2015, gate opening times will be 11.00am on race days, unless otherwise specified.
How much is general admission to Morphettville Racecourse?
Winter Pricing - 1 June to 30 September
- Adults: $10
- Commonwealth Concession & DVA Card Holders (Department of Veterans Affairs): $5
- Children Under 18: FREE
Summer Pricing - 1 October to 31 May
- Adults: $15

Do I need to pre-book my general admission tickets?
General admission tickets for each race meeting are available at the racecourse entrance points – there is no need to pre-book or pre-purchase these tickets.
During the UBET Adelaide Cup, Melbourne Cup and some other feature race days tickets can be pre-purchased to avoid queues. Tickets are available for sale from Morphettville Racecourse during office hours, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm or visit our event page for online bookings.
Where is parking located, and how much does it cost?
Car parking is free on regular race days and is $10 on UBET Adelaide Cup Day and Melbourne Cup Day. Car parks are located at The Junction (off Anzac Highway, Camden Park) and at Morphett Road opposite the Members' Car Park entrance. The Members' car park at Morphettville can only be accessed with an SAJC Members' car park pass.
What time is the first race?
First race time varies. The race times are confirmed up to 4 weeks ahead of the nominated meeting. Please check race details by visiting www.theracessa.com.au (opens in new window).
Generally the first race will be between 11.45am and 12.30pm.
There are usually 8 races throughout the day that are 40 minutes apart.
Can I bring alcohol to Morphettville Racecourse?
As Morphettville Racecourse is fully licensed, you are not permitted to bring alcohol into the venue. Due to Liquor Licensing requirements, alcohol may not be brought onto or taken off of the premises at any time.
There are a number of bar facilities and food and beverage outlets throughout the course, where both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks can be purchased on race days.
Please also note that it is a condition of entry to the racecourse premises that all bags and other carriers (such as drink coolers) are allowed to be searched for Prohibited Goods by the Club’s authorised representatives.
The South Australian Jockey Club practices responsible service of alcohol.
What can I bring into Morphettville Racecourse?
Can I bring a picnic lunch into Morphettville?
Yes picnic baskets are permitted to be brought on course for consumption in outdoor areas at Morphettville Racecourse, with the exception of Diva Terrace, Palms Platform and Grandstand Areas.
- Picnic baskets should not include hot food
- Eskies are not permitted on course
- Due to Liquor Licencing alcohol cannot be brought on to the property
- No glassware (bottles, glasses and the like) is to be brought in picnic baskets
There is a range of food outlets on course, featuring a selection of hot and cold food available for purchase, and pre-order food platter selections are also available by contacting our Hospitality team on 8295 0199.
Please note, outside caterers are not permitted to supply SAJC patrons, unless they are a contracted supplier of the Club.
Can I bring a BBQ, outdoor furniture or shade structures into Morphettville?
For public health and safety reasons, we cannot allow patrons to bring BBQ's, plastic chairs or large lounges, picnic tables or beach/market umbrellas into the course.
The SAJC will endeavour to provide as much shelter and seating as is possible, given the anticipated crowd for any given event. Please note that whilst some areas of the course are exposed to weather and direct sunlight, the SAJC cannot guarantee that sufficient room will be provided for all patrons to obtain shelter or seating. Patrons are welcome to bring a picnic rug and are encouraged to observe sun smart practices when attending all events.
How do I get to Morphettville Racecourse?
Just off Anzac Highway, Morphett Rd, Morphettville. Entry via Morphett Road through the Members' Carpark or via the tramway entrance.
In the interests of safety, please consider the following public transport options to and from Morphettville Racecourse:
A taxi rank is located inside the Members' Car Park, where taxis will pick up and drop off throughout the day.
The Glenelg tram operates throughout the day. There are various pickup points on this return route, starting from the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. This service travels through the Adelaide city centre, and all the way to Glenelg's Moseley Square. Can I bring my children to the races? Are there any restrictions?
Children under 18 years (minors) are welcome at all race meetings at Morphettville but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Children aged 13 years and under receive complimentary admission to all race days and must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, including when entering the course. Children aged 14 – 17 years receive complimentary admission on all race days, except UBET Adelaide Cup Day and Melbourne Cup Day when a $15 admission charge applies. Please note that in keeping with requirements enforceable under our Liquor License, a responsible adult is deemed to be a parent or an authorised guardian of the minor and fines can be issued to minors who are not accompanied by a responsible adult.
There are no restricted areas within the racecourse, however children under the age of 18 are not allowed to approach any beverage outlets or saddling enclosures.
Morphettville Racecourse is a public venue and are subject to venue smoking laws. Smoking will only be permitted in areas not under cover.
Where is lost property?
Lost property can be claimed from the Secretary’s Office at Morphettville Racecourse. Lost property items are stored for a period of 3 months and are then donated to charity. All enquiries regarding lost property should be directed to (08) 8295 0111.
The Cloak Room is located in the Secretary’s Office at Morphettville Racecourse and operates each raceday. The Cloak Room closes just after the running of the last race. On feature race days at Morphettville Racecourse the cloak room is located in the Betting Ring.
Can I reserve outdoor tables and chairs?
The outdoor tables and chairs are freely available to all general admission guests on a first-come, first-served basis. They are not able to be reserved. For health and safety reasons the outdoor umbrellas are locked into place and are not able to be relocated.
Can I purchase tickets to Members' Areas if I am not a member?
Only current SAJC Members and Members from other racing clubs with reciprocal rights may purchase a guest ticket to Members' Areas.

What are the dress regulations for the Members enclosure?
Can children go into the Members' Areas?
Children may enter the Members’ Areas when accompanied by a responsible adult who is in possession of a Member’s Area Ticket. Children must be in the immediate presence of a responsible adult at all times while within the Members’ Areas.
Free passes are issued to children under 18 years of age who accompany a member. Please visit the Secretary's Office on course for an Under 18 Members Pass.
Children however are not permitted in our Member's Badge Bar on the First Floor of the Grandstand.
Children over the age of twelve (12) must be suitably attired as per the Members Reserve Dress Standards.

What are the dress regulations in the Winning Post Restaurant?
Patrons in the Winning Post Restaurant must adhere to the Members Reserve Dress Standards.
Where are the corporate lounges and how many people do they hold?
Corporate Lounges are located in the Heritage Grandstand overlooking the straight and winning post and can accommodate groups of 10 or more. Please contact us for more information.
I want to have my hen's or buck's day at the races – where is the best place to book?
Groups of any size can be accommodated in both private and public areas. A package can be tailored to individual requirements. Please contact our Hospitality team on (08) 8295 0199 for any enquiries.
I have lost my tickets – what should I do?
General admission tickets cannot be replaced. Function tickets are numbered and therefore once reported lost or stolen these tickets will not be valid and replacement tickets will be issued. Please contact our Hospitality team on (08) 8295 0199 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
